World Ayurveda Day

28 November 2023

What is Ayurveda? Ayurveda is considered by many to be one of the oldest healing sciences and originated in India more than 5000 years ago. Ayurveda maintains that all life must be supported by energy in balance and places great emphasis on prevention of ill health.

We would like to give a shout out to Dr. Bhagyashree Kamble, a senior research scientist at Nature’s Laboratory, who will be speaking today at an online international conference on “Exploring the Potential of Ayurveda in Promoting the Well-Being of Human Beings, Animals environment, Plants and Animals.”

The theme of the conference is “Ayurveda for everyone, every day”, and it’s being organised by the JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru, India & South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, Kazakhstan.

The conference aims to bring together Ayurvedic practitioners, researchers, scholars, students and enthusiasts to share knowledge, promote the development and integration of Ayurveda into healthcare systems, & aims to cover research, clinical practice, education and policy.

The objectives of the conference include to:

  • Address issues related to the quality, safety and standardisation of Ayurvedic products, treatments and practices.
  • Raise awareness amongst the public, policymakers and healthcare professionals.
  • Explore the cultural, historical and philosophical aspects of Ayurveda, providing deeper understanding of its roots and evolution.
  • Encourage international collaboration in Ayurvedic research, education and practice, fostering global acceptance & recognition of Ayurveda as a valuable healthcare system.
  • Emphasise the holistic approach of Ayurveda to health & well-being, considering physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of health.

Nature’s Laboratory is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of natural medicines and health products (including Ayurvedic herbs) and also invests in research, providing the scientific rationale for the products we develop. Dr. Kamble is a senior researcher at Nature’s Laboratory (Knowledge Transfer Partnership Propolis Research Associate, in conjunction with Bradford University) and will be the first speaker at the conference, launching the scientific sessions, with her presentation “Propolis, an ancient healer for human health care.”

Propolis is an amazing substance produced by honeybees. They make it by combining resins that they collect from trees and plants with enzymes and use it to protect their hives from infection. It has also been used as a medicine by humans for thousands of years.

Earlier this year, Dr. Kamble gave a series of evening talks at The Dispensary health shop in Whitby, covering different herbal medicine systems, including Ayurvedic Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Herbal Medicine. The talks were very popular, and we hope to re-run this series in 2024, making information on herbal medicine accessible to as many people as possible.

Also, Nature’s Laboratory will be organising an online Ayurvedic conference early in 2024, so please watch this space for more details, but meantime, congratulations to Dr Kamble on speaking at the international conference of Ayurveda today, we’re sure it will be an informative and important event.
