Our Brilliant Local Makers at the Made in Whitby Festival

This July, Nature’s Laboratory brought its brands to the vibrant Made in Whitby Festival, held on 7–8 July 2025 at Whitby Brewery under the iconic silhouette of Whitby Abbey. The festival celebrated the innovative spirit of local makers, and Nature’s Laboratory was proud to join the lineup alongside community favourites like Whitby Seasalt producers, Whitby Brewery, Bothams, Whitby Distillery, and the Whitby Foghorn.

Tom Cull, Director of Production, Purchasing & Operations, had a fantastic time at our stand. He engaged with curious festival goers, old friends, and new contacts alike, sharing the story of Nature’s Laboratory—from its research and development roots to the products created at its Enterprise Way unit, right here in Whitby.

These included:

  • Sweet Cecily’s natural skincare — handmade, cruelty free creams, lip balms and make- your -own -kits. sweetcecilys.com
  • BeeVital medicines from the beehive— our flagship range of propolis‑based remedies born from decades of rigorous research. beevitalpropolis.com
  • Herbal Apothecary herbal medicines & supplements — the UK’s leading supplier of practitioner-grade tinctures, capsules, creams, and extracts. herbalapothecaryuk.com
  • Whitby Teas — Delicious, locally inspired loose‑leaf black & herbal teas from the Whitby Tea Company. Whitbytea.com

Tom loved getting out into our local community and explaining what we do at Nature’s Laboratory, chatting about our three-fold vision for health, sustainable manufacturing, the science behind propolis, our herbal supplements and teas and the benefits of hand‑crafted skincare, in our beautiful North Yorkshire coastal setting.

Community & Connections

The festival was a warm reunion and an opportunity to support fellow local makers. It was fantastic to see and catch up with teams from Whitby SeasaltBothamsWhitby Foghorn, and many more long‑standing and new creative businesses.

We are delighted that The Yorkshire Deli on Pier Road, Whitby, has now started stocking our Whitby Teas following the festival!

Why We Attend

At Nature’s Laboratory we’re deeply committed to three‑dimensional health: social, economic, and cultural health. We research, develop, and manufacture our own brands & undertake contract manufacturing for other businesses, whilst also promoting natural health access in our community, through our support of The Dispensary Health Shop & Hub in Whitby.

Events like Made in Whitby are the perfect stage to bring that ethos to life—meeting people face-to-face, making connections, discussing our three-fold approach to health, supporting local partnerships, and spreading awareness of natural medicines born from plants and the hive.

Looking Ahead

After a brilliant festival weekend, we’re committed to developing our work with our local community further. Watch out for upcoming local stockists, and the chance to come and meet us at Nature’s Laboratory and see what we do at our Discovery Day on September 6th, 10 a.m. till 4p.m.

A heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited our stall, shared enthusiasm for our work, and joined us in celebrating local innovation. We can’t wait for the next Made in Whitby Festival this December 13th & 14th at Whitby Brewery—see you there!
